  • Closing date: 9 a.m. Monday 4th November | First virtual interview: 12th or 14th November, Final in-person interview: 19th November

The Contemporary Art Society (CAS) seeks a Development Manager to oversee and expand individual giving programmes, including managing relationships with high-level donors, legacy giving campaigns, and our Patrons Acquisition Fund.

This role will involve cultivating meaningful relationships with patrons, collaborating on engaging events, and managing a small team to support CAS’s charitable mission to advance contemporary art in the UK.

About the role

As Development Manager, you will work closely with the Head of Philanthropy to identify, cultivate, and manage relationships with high-net-worth individuals with the capacity and interest to support the Contemporary Art Society (CAS). You will lead the development and implementation of bespoke patron and individual supporter programmes, ensuring the recruitment and engagement of patrons through exclusive face-to-face and phone interactions.

A key aspect of the role is managing the patrons’ programme in collaboration with the Curator of Programmes, ensuring the seamless execution of tailored events designed to captivate donors. You will also oversee the Acquisition Fund Committee and represent CAS at high-profile events, acting as an effective and persuasive ambassador for the organisation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing and implementing individual giving programmes, including the Acquisition Fund and legacy giving.
  • Cultivating relationships with donors; managing recruitment, and stewarding patrons.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to deliver bespoke and exclusive donor events and engagement opportunities.
  • Managing the Assistant Development Manager and working with the Head of Philanthropy to ensure strategic financial and donor targets are met.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a dynamic and confident individual with experience in major gifts/patrons fundraising and a strong interest in contemporary art.

Suitable candidates will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to adapt to suit their audience.

You will be organised, collaborative, and an effective leader who thrives on meeting people face-to-face.
