The Company

Macdonald & Company is excited to exclusively partner with BlueCurrent in the recruitment of their new Development Director, responsible for Project Delivery.

The Role

As Development Director, you will lead the delivery of both existing and new schemes across the UK and Europe, driving forward the company’s expansion strategy.

You will operate throughout the development lifecycle, from site evaluation, project design through planning, tender management, consultant and contractor award, overseeing the construction build through to successful customer handover.

Your technical expertise and commercial acumen will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest sustainability standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of new and existing schemes across the UK and Europe.
• Provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage site evaluations, project design, and input to development appraisals.
• Oversee planning, tendering, consultant and contractor appointments and regulatory compliance.
• Proactively engage with local councils and the GLA to ensure timely determination of planning.
• Control and own the power-related workstreams, including grid connections, ICP procurement, charging hardware/software, and on-site generation.
• Lead project teams, ensuring successful delivery from inception to completion.
• Evolve and update BlueCurrent’s product and design blueprint.
• Regularly provide robust reporting on project programme, costs, risks, and opportunities to senior management.

The Person

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with a proven track record operating in property development, project management consultancy or contractor.

You will be a skilled communicator with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards.

With experience in managing large-scale and complex commercial projects, you will have successfully delivered similar construction projects to time and budget, typically steel frame, multi-story developments with innovative M&E solutions.

Experience of operating within Europe is preferred but not essential.
