Job Details: Development and Volunteer Coordinator Lead

Waythrough launched in October 2024 following the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship. Our vision is to break down the barriers that stop people getting the support they need to live a life they value. We tackle poverty and disadvantage in communities, through mental health, drug and alcohol, housing and related support.

We have almost 200 services around England – and nearly 3,500 amazing staff and volunteers who run them. Every year our services support around 125,000 people.

This is a new and exciting role based in Lewisham for a Development and Volunteer Coordinator Lead. The role entails managing a team of volunteers and Peer mentors to deliver a service to Lewisham residents who are experiencing drug and/or alcohol use and support Peer mentors to distribute Naloxone to the local community.

We are looking for an innovative and creative person to develop and implement a buddying system and a telephone helpline which will be staffed by a team of volunteers.

The person:

  • Experienced working in a lead or supervisory role would be beneficial.
  • Experience working with IT packages such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Be able to undertake basic administrative tasks.
  • Great communication skills are essential.
  • Be able to have an empathetic approach when dealing with service users.

About us:

We are based in Forest Hill SE23 which is 20 mins from London Bridge mainline station. The contract is for one year (with the possibility of an extension) and we welcome applicants who have lived experience of drugs, alcohol, homelessness or mental health challenges. The role is for 37 hours per week but we are willing to consider part-time applicants or a job share.
