As a result, we're seeking a talented, ambitious, and highly motivated Desktop Support Engineer to join our Smith Stone Walters team at a UK location. The ideal candidate will provide technical assistance, troubleshoot IT-related issues, and ensure the smooth operation of IT systems and networks. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and a proactive approach to IT support.
As our Desktop Support Engineer, you will be required to:
- Provide first-line technical support to users via phone, email, and remote access tools.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain IT systems, including desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices.
- Escalate complex issues to the appropriate IT teams and follow up to ensure resolution.
- Provide Tier 2 level support, serving as an escalation point for Tier 1 level support.
- Maintain accurate records of issues and resolutions using a ticketing system.
- Support user account management, including password resets and access permissions.
- Assist with IT security measures, including antivirus updates and system patches.
- Provide guidance and training to end users on IT best practices.
To apply for this role, you should possess the following skills, experience, and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 3-5 years of IT helpdesk, network support, or computer repair experience.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft technology and licensing (Windows 10/11, Windows Server, Office, MS SQL, etc.) and MAC OS.
- Advanced knowledge and troubleshooting skills in Active Directory, Exchange, O365, Azure, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and remote desktop tools.
- Basic networking/LAN experience.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong customer service and communication abilities.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
This role is Hybrid, working within the United Kingdom and must commence in approximately one month.
