Job Title: Desktop Support Engineer
Location: Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (Wonford), Barrack Road, Exeter, EX2 5DW
Trust: Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Job Type/Shift Patterns: Full-time, Monday to Friday, with hours from 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm, totaling 37.5 hours per week 100% onsite.
Pay Rate: £16.53/Hr. + Holiday Pay.
Contract duration: 3 - 6 months (Rolling Contract) (Possibility of extension subject to review)

Job Summary

The Desktop Support Engineer will provide technical support to Trust staff, ensuring smooth operation of desktop PCs, laptops, and mobile devices. The role involves coordinating with the Service Desk to resolve issues, performing installations and upgrades, and supporting the My Care project. You will work in a dynamic healthcare environment to ensure minimal disruption and high-quality service for end users.

Responsibilities

1. Provide technical support for desktop PCs, laptops, and mobile devices.
2. Resolve service desk calls and keep users informed of progress.
3. Install, upgrade, and replace hardware/software with minimal disruption.
4. Schedule and manage calls with end users for convenient timings.
5. Coordinate with IT contractors and ensure contract compliance.
6. Assist in delivering Digital Services Division and My Care plans.
7. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues.
8. Maintain communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Required Skills/Experience

1. Strong knowledge of MS operating systems and desktop hardware.
2. Experience in supporting iOS devices and clinical systems.
3. Experience with troubleshooting and performing hardware/software upgrades.
4. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Key Requirements

1. Software Requirements: Proficiency in Microsoft OS (Windows 10/11), Office 365, and related apps.
2. Additional Skills: Knowledge of Epic EPR systems is a plus.

Education

1. Technical qualification (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft certifications).
2. IT support experience in healthcare or similar environments is a plus.
