Job description

Desktop Engineer - SC Cleared

Whitehall Resources currently require an experienced Desktop Engineer to work with a key client.

Please note this role requires Active SC Clearance and contractors must work via an umbrella.

Role Description:

A Wintel SME that has recent hands-on experience in delivering automated and scripted domain joined secure Windows 11 physical desktops to multi-site offices. This role will be responsible for implementing and troubleshooting Windows 11 desktop, ensuring security is maintained, connectivity to core services is enabled such as DNS, User login, Profiles, AD, GPOs. They will need to document activities, initiate testing and remediation, proposing best practices and communicating with the infrastructure, architecture, and client team to understand and deliver approved designs.

Key Skills:
  1. Strong understanding and recent hands-on experience of delivering automated/scripted Windows Desktop and Workstation.
  2. Experience with installing, configuring and managing policies and configurations such as GPOs and CIS hardening.
  3. Ability to automate and script activities, including troubleshooting common issues and remediation.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Deep understanding of Windows operating systems.
Desirable Skills:
  1. Experience with networking and core services – AD, DNS, WSUS, AV, Backups.
  2. Knowledge of user services – print, file shares, user profiles.
  3. Aware of a wide range of technology and approaches.
  4. Excellent coordination and collaboration with infrastructure teams.
  5. Understanding of security and risk implications around workstation building.
