The Academic Design Department, within the Design & Media team, is responsible for managing and developing strong and effective designs for print products, marketing, and branding.
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented, creative, and motivated individual to join our team. Reporting to a Design Manager, you will use your design skills to produce high quality book cover designs for a wide range of our non-fiction hardback and paperback books. There will also be the opportunity to create marketing materials and contribute to design concepts for other group projects, including branding and digital. You will work collaboratively with the design team and other functions, including Editorial, Production, and Marketing.
We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.
The successful candidate will be a creative thinker with a passion for publishing and able to demonstrate high quality book cover design in their portfolio. We welcome applications from candidates who haven’t yet had the opportunity to work in publishing, but anticipate that your portfolio will showcase your interest and skills in book cover design through student work and/or self-directed projects. You should possess strong organizational and communication skills as well as the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Strong typography and layout skills are essential, as is the ability to manage many projects at the same time to deadlines. You will be fully proficient in the use of Adobe Creative Cloud applications. You can adapt your design style to suit different audiences and genres.
