Job description

Their Design Technology (DT) department plays a crucial role in developing creativity, problem-solving, and practical skills, helping students apply knowledge to real-world contexts. We are seeking a passionate Design Technology Teacher to join their team and inspire the next generation of designers, engineers, and innovators. This role begins September 2025.

Duties as a Design Technology Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and practical DT lessons that encourage creativity and problem-solving.
  • Teach a broad range of DT disciplines, ensuring students develop strong technical skills.
  • Support students in designing and making high-quality projects using a variety of materials and tools.
  • Promote a safe working environment in the workshop, ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing feedback and targeted support.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and enhance the DT curriculum.
  • Encourage a passion for design and engineering through extracurricular clubs, competitions, and trips.

Ideal Design Technology Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Design Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience teaching Design Technology at Key Stage 3 and 4 (and Key Stage 5, if applicable).
  • A passion for hands-on, practical learning and problem-solving.
  • Strong knowledge of workshop tools, machinery, and CAD software (such as Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD).
  • Excellent classroom management and the ability to inspire and engage students as a Design Technology teacher.
  • A commitment to promoting STEM subjects and career pathways in design, engineering, and technology.
