Job Description Summary You will report to the Grid Automation Core Technologies, Systems and Operations Leader. You will provide direction, development, and pipeline growth for the controlled title engineers within Grid Automation. You will provide technology leadership for the GA and will support over 500 engineers across the R&D team. You will direct the technology roadmap and platform architecture definition, advance R&D competencies and best practices, and oversee design due diligence and risk management. In addition, you will lead the GA Design Authority function that aligns product and solutions designs with the Strategy. #LI-ML2

Essential Responsibilities
Creates and leads Technology innovation, Technology strategy & roadmaps
Defines Product platform, solution architecture and strategy alignment with Business needs to maximize productivity, revenue and CM
Articulates and translates Technology Strategy into Design Authority Guiderails to align product/platform design
Oversees design rigor for quality and NPI execution
Manages R&D competencies, Engineering practices, tools, and processes
Enhances Global R&D and cross-functional team engagement and collaboration culture

Provides leadership as the Design Office Director for the Grid Automation business
Lays out Grid Automation technology roadmaps, in alignment with the product roadmaps
Articulates the technology strategy and translates it into Design Authority Guiderails to align product/platform design
Leads the evolution of technology roadmaps
Issues CTO Requirement Documents (CRD) for major NPI programs
Conducts formal assessments of product designs for alignment with technology strategy and issues approvals or change orders
Selects key technologies and components to be standardized on (CPUs, software libraries, open-source components, etc)
Drives portfolio-wide capabilities and feature design for product line consistency (e.g., software licensing, UI/UX, interoperability)
Stays connected with technology trends and industry evolution to drive solutions differentiation
Maintains design authority oversight of product platforms & software architectures
Collaborates closely with product management teams to ensure the technology roadmap aligns with product and business strategy
Provides technical guidance of NPIs (New Products Introduction), including presiding over and approving technical review gates
Identifies and mitigates technical business risks (cybersecurity, technology, standards)
Leads the assessment of R&D team competencies and drive measures to address gaps to achieve business goals
Leads the formulation and dissemination of lessons-learned and best practices across the R&D teams
Utilizes experience and knowledge to help solve technical problems across Grid Automation products
Promotes initiatives related to design quality and reliability
Provides leadership, mentoring and pipeline development of Consulting and Principal Engineers
Required Qualifications
Bachelor in Electronics Engineering Science or equivalent
Minimum 15 additional years of experience in a technical product development capacity
Minimum of 5 years experience as an Architect
Able to interface effectively with all function and levels of a global organization
