Job description

Design Manager - MEP / M&E Systems required to work for Principal Contractor on High Speed Rail Project.

MEP/Mechanical & Electrical works for construction, fit-out and commissioning of Tunnels, Shafts & Associated MEP Infrastructure Works.

Permanent Staff Positions based around Old Oak Common, North Acton and West London. Full time office/site based roles.

MEP Design Manager Role Brief:

Skillset: MEP/Design Management/Technical Solutions/CDM Management.

As the Design Manager for MEPH systems, you will take a leading role in the completion of the Stage 5 (Design for Construction & Manufacturing) MEPH design. You will be the principal point of contact for design for the allocated subcontract supply chain members. Your role will oversee the delivery of the design on 12No assets along the line of route for the London Tunnels.

Working collaboratively with the supply chain partners, you will ensure that the subcontract and technical requirements are met, and that lessons are learnt between assets, consistently improving efficiency and our value offering as the works progress.

Stage 5 Supply Chain Design Management:
  1. Management of Supply Chain Stage 5 Design Deliverables, ensuring that the supply chain submits quality deliverables in a timely manner.
  2. Ensure that the design processes are communicated and implemented. Identify where deviations from processes are required and ensure that appropriate exceptions processes are implemented.
  3. Interface management between Stage 5 Design suppliers and Design Integrator, ensuring that deliverables are aligned to one another and that interfaces are identified and managed.
  4. Reporting on progress of design for your subcontract packages, identifying key risks and issues and ensuring that these are communicated with the Package Manager (Delivery) and Commercial Package Manager.
  5. Identification of scope gaps and interface issues within the design, identifying and supporting the implementation of resolutions.
  6. Interfacing with the quality, technical assurance, engineering and delivery teams to ensure the delivery of a quality product.
Essential Qualifications:
  1. Experience of design management for Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health systems.
  2. Experience of detailed design within an MEP setting.
  3. Knowledge of relevant policies and standards related to MEP Design.
  4. Experience of working within a large scale self-assured design environment.
  5. Capable of working independently and proactively to progress works but also skilled at working collaboratively with other integrated team members and external stakeholders for the overall benefit of the project.
  6. Experience in the management of the implementation of the requirements of the Construction and Design Management Regs 2015 in design.
  7. Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Document Control Systems, Auto CAD, Navisworks and Projectwise).
  8. Excellent communication skills and ability to adjust communication style to suit the receiver.
