I am currently working with a well-established contractor who specializes in the interior fitting out and refurbishment of commercial premises. They have recently hired a new Head of Design who is tasked with shaping a new team. This HoD is extremely experienced and knowledgeable, and on top of this, is a lovely person and is great to work with. He has already helped them win several new projects!

They are recruiting for two Design Managers to help with an exciting and vast pipeline of work within Cambridge and Central London. The majority of their work is between £5m - £30m, and you would potentially be covering two sites at once.

This role would also include tendering, work winning, pitching, pack reviewing, and more. You do not need to have direct experience with this but should be keen to be involved in these areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for career growth, as you would be joining the start of a newly formed team. There are big plans in place to expand this team further, which would give you the chance to move up the ladder quickly or at the pace you desire.

Their office is based in Cambridge.

Responsibilities:

• End-to-end design delivery process starting from brief definition and internal alignment with various stakeholders to appointment, management, and review of external design vendors that carry out design work for projects.
• Ensure regular reporting of progress against agreed plans to senior members of Design and Engineering and the associated project managers.
• Advise and ensure corrective action is taken promptly to address any design issues.
• Ensure quality and value for money received through third-party appointments.
• Help develop new tools, processes, and procedures for best practice design management.
• Develop and manage long-term relationships with key third-party design and equipment vendors.

What is needed from you:

• Degree educated.
• Good written and oral communication skills in English.
