Design Engineer (Mechanical)

Mechanical Design Engineer: Our client, an innovative manufacturer based in North Yorkshire, seeks to appoint a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop new and modify existing products and provide technical engineering support across the Group. With scope for career progression whilst working for a market-leading manufacturer, this Mechanical Design Engineer role would suit a design graduate with a few years of industry experience through to an established Mechanical Design Engineer.

Mechanical Design Engineer - Role & Responsibilities:

1. Design and engineer products to uphold company best practices.
2. Ensure that new product designs and any cost reduction designs achieve the target cost price, required launch date, and meet all legislative criteria.
3. Maintain and create BOM, a product specification, and maintain the company ERP system.
4. Remain involved in the whole lifecycle of a product: liaise with the quality department through the design process, support production teams during manufacture, potentially training assembly operatives, and speak to suppliers/customers where necessary.

Mechanical Design Engineer - Skills & Abilities:

1. HNC / HND qualified in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
2. Minimum of two years' experience, post-University, of 3D modelling (SolidWorks preferred).
3. Working knowledge of ERP systems advantageous.
