Design Engineer who has an HND or degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with experience using structural design software and AutoCAD is required for a well-established company based in Bedworth, Coventry, West Midlands.

As a successful candidate you will be undertaking conceptual and detailed designs for both temporary and permanent works on a variety of tunnelling and below ground civil engineering projects.

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Design Engineer who has an HND or degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with experience using structural design software and AutoCAD.

The company is developing their inhouse design capability and are looking to expand their small design team. As the Design Engineer, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the team and design process.

As the Design Engineer you will have design experience in temporary and permanent works gained on civil engineering projects and will be looking to join the company to further develop your knowledge and skills in the design of tunnels and underground works.

The role will offer you opportunities for skills and career development in the below ground environment whilst supported by senior members of the team.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Design Engineer include:

1. Assisting in the development of conceptual designs
2. Preparation of calculations, written reports and drawings
3. Checking of design calculations and drawings undertaken by others
4. Attend client meetings and site visits as required

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

1. You will hold a Higher National Diploma or Master's degree in civil or structural engineering
2. Ideally you will be working towards chartered engineer status (CEng, MICE, MIStructE)
3. You must have at least previous post qualification experience working in a design environment in the UK on a range of civil engineering projects including tunnels, shafts, or civil infrastructure
4. You must be keen to develop your skills in below ground civil engineering design
5. You will be familiar with Eurocodes and have a sound understanding of CDM Regulations, specifically the designer’s requirements and requirements regarding the design risk assessment process
6. You will have excellent communication skills in IT, verbal and written forms
7. You will have experience in the use of structural design software and AutoCAD
8. You will hold a full UK driving licence
