Design Engineer

Recruit4staff are proud to be representing their client, a well-established engineering company in their search for a Design Engineer to work from their head office in Skelmersdale.

For the successful Design Engineer, our client is offering:

1. Basic Salary of up to £40,000 per annum (Negotiable depending on experience)
2. 40 hours per week, 7am - 4:30pm
3. Permanent role
4. 20 days holiday + bank holidays (rising to 25 days with service)
5. Company pension

The Role - Design Engineer

Working with clients across various sectors including the Chemical, Food, Beverage, Dairy and Pharmaceutical industries:

1. Generate 2D and 3D plant layout drawings, detailing pipe work routes and equipment positions.
2. Generate automatic pipe work isometric drawings, using AutoCAD Plant 3D.
3. 3D modelling of supplier/bought-out equipment.
4. Create 2D and 3D frame mounted skid fabrication drawings.
5. Prepare equipment schedules, material take-offs and bill of materials, using AutoCAD Plant 3D.
6. Ensure designs are fit for purpose and safe.
7. Review designs in accordance with industry standards, codes, and client specifications.
8. Ensure all technical information is available when required for the delivery of design and/or construction.
9. Early identification and resolution of non-conformance within both the design and construction phase.
10. Create P&ID's using client drawing standards.
11. Conduct site surveys: P&ID walkthroughs and “as built” equipment positions.
12. Issuing documentation in accordance with standard procedures.

What we are looking for in the successful Design Engineer

1. Previous experience working in a similar role within the steel fabrication/engineering sector - ESSENTIAL.
2. C&G/NVQ in mechanical engineering or similar qualification - BENEFICIAL.
3. Previous experience using AutoCAD - ESSENTIAL.
4. Previous experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D - PREFERRED.
5. Knowledge and understanding of P&ID's.
6. Knowledge of Pipe work routing and isometric drawings - ESSENTIAL.
7. Knowledge of Steel structure fabrication drawings - ESSENTIAL.
8. Experience with Navisworks & Fusion360 - BENEFICIAL.
9. Excellent knowledge of MS Office suite of products, primarily Outlook, Word and Excel.
10. Full Driving Licence - ESSENTIAL.
