The Role

Linsco is working with a well-established housing company who are looking for an experienced engineer to join their team due to growth. This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading company who can offer a competitive salary, excellent work-life balance, and potential career progression. Ideally, we are looking for a Senior Engineer, but my client will also consider an Engineer who is looking to step up.

This is an office-based role with occasional site visits, and you will work directly with the Engineering Director.

Duties

  • Provide engineering design and technical support for the region and manage all external consultants of the technical team in the production of drawings for the design of site developments.
  • Assist in the production of layouts and technical reports for Land Appraisals and required working drawings.
  • Brief and commission site investigations, topographical surveys, and other assessment reports on land acquired.
  • Brief engineering consultants on the scope of design, including roads, sewers, private drainage, retaining walls, foundation designs, and any other substructures below DPC level.
  • Initial negotiations/enquiries with statutory bodies and utility undertakers on environmental, drainage, highways, and other engineering issues when appraising land.
  • Issue engineering information to Commercial, Construction, and Sales departments.
  • Fee negotiation and appointment of consultants.
  • Answering technical queries.
  • Comply with responsibilities as laid down in the Group's Health, Safety, and Environment Policy.
  • Manage the site evaluation process and provide timely provision for economical and viable solutions to technical problems.
  • Run projects from initial site identification or from Planning Approval Stage, procuring the technical package and coordinating/checking information to enable on-time site commencement.
  • Establish and enforce quality and standards in schemes to maintain the good image of the company.
  • Effective daily management of the consultant team to ensure the provision of required levels of service in a proactive and professional manner.
  • Coordinate production information to a written programme to ensure company targets are met for a controlled and cost-effective finish to the sites.
  • Ensure that when deputising for the Manager, the team is allocated tasks where quality of work needs to be verified.
  • Mentor and train junior members of the team to develop their skills to a sufficient level where they can take on more responsibility.
  • Agree on the delivery programme of design information in accordance with the business development and procurement programmes.

Extra Bits

  • Exceptional communication, organisation, and time management skills.
  • A civils, infrastructure, groundworks, or possibly more general construction background.
  • Valid Managers CSCS Card is desirable.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS.
  • BTEC or NVQ4 in Site Management.
  • Full UK driving licence required.
