Job overview

We are looking for a dedicated and dynamic Deputy Manager to join our Sterile Services team and play a crucial role in delivering exceptional decontamination services across our two main hospitals. As a key player in ensuring the highest standards of patient safety, you will support the Sterile Services Manager in overseeing staff, resources, and daily operations within our state-of-the-art Sterile Services Department.

We are seeking a candidate with proven experience in sterile services or a related healthcare field, particularly with a focus on quality and safety. You should have strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and guide your team to meet and exceed departmental goals. A proactive approach to ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and promoting continuous improvement in service delivery will be essential.

You will also need excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage resources effectively and make decisions that enhance the overall performance of the department. Main duties of the job

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Collaborate closely with the Sterile Services Manager to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the department.
  • Maintain high standards and ensure that operations align with the goals of providing the highest quality of decontamination services.
  • Lead and motivate a dedicated team, ensuring that all staff members are well-trained, supported, and performing to their best potential.
  • Maintain and improve the quality and safety of decontamination services, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as HTM 01-01 and ISO 13485:2016.
  • Contribute to the overall delivery of high-quality patient care by upholding our commitment to safety, quality, and best practices.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring that all aspects of the department meet regulatory standards while helping to streamline processes for greater efficiency.

Person specification

Education and Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Leadership and Management Development Qualifications.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Full membership of the Institute of Decontamination Sciences.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience of managing a Quality System Standard EN ISO13485:2016.
  • Knowledge of HTM01-01 Standards.
  • Experience in Internal Audit.
  • Up to date, professional knowledge of all areas of Sterile Services.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of managing staff and resources.
  • Experience in a management role.
  • Evidence of Specialist Technical Knowledge.
  • Experience working within ISO guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Medical Devices legislation.
  • Evidence of service planning/development.
  • IT and Computer systems knowledge.
  • Knowledge of COSHH Regulations and Health & Safety at Work Act.
  • Experience within the NHS healthcare.
  • Knowledge of NHS procedures for the management of Medical Devices and Health & Safety legislation.
