Deputy Manager - Children's Residential Care Home

* Full-time, Permanent - 40 hours per week

* Middleton Cheney, Banbury, Oxfordshire

* £33,187 - £34,403 per annum (£15.96 - £16.54 per hour)

* On call payment: £150.00 per month

* £44.56 for sleep in (if required to cover to support the service)

Vacancy:

We have an opportunity for a Deputy Manager to join our 3 bedded EBD children's residential home in Middleton Cheney, Banbury, Oxfordshire. The staff team provide care and support for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties, and who have additional support needs.

Currently, the home supports 3 young people from the ages of 13 to 16 who enjoy taking part in a range of activities from arts and crafts, caring for animals, day trips to theme parks, and spending time with their families and friends.

Working alongside the Home Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing all aspects of the day-to-day running of the residential home, including promoting the safeguarding of the young people's welfare, and promoting education and diversity to ensure individual needs are met, in line with Ofsted regulations and company requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Coach, support and develop staff, including supervision, to maximise their performance and ensure high standards of care, values, ethical standards, equality and diversity, policies and procedures, legislation and contractual and inspection framework requirements are met.
  2. Liaise with other departments and external agencies to ensure that the young people receive appropriate plans and programmes that meet their needs and the needs of the Contract.
  3. Assist in the identification of resourcing needs and the ongoing selection, training and development of staff to ensure contractual requirements and relevant standards are met.
  4. Participate in the risk assessment during admissions process to ensure that the immediate vulnerability and risk of the young person is determined accurately.
  5. Promote a positive health and safety culture to meet and maintain company and external accreditation standards.
  6. Demonstrate to young people, through pro-social modelling, the value of education and care, and the ability to develop skills to maximise positive behaviour, and transition into adulthood.
  7. Form trusting, respectful, boundaries, professional relationships with young people, in order that they respond and react appropriately to information and guidance.
  8. Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed to a high standard, within required timescales and communicated effectively, in order to comply with the Contract and Company Policies and Procedures.
  9. Support the senior management team in the implementation of development strategies promoting a positive approach to ensure the change process is embraced.

Hours of Work:

You will be required to work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, however, will be expected to cover shifts when needed. You will also be required to participate in the on-call for the cluster, an additional on-call payment is offered for this.

Essential:

  1. QCF Level 3 Residential Childcare (or equivalent) or studying towards.
  2. Previous experience working with children and young people in a leadership role in a residential or similar setting is essential.
  3. A full UK Driving Licence.

  3. Ability to lead a team to achieve positive outcomes, providing them with guidance and mentorship to develop in their roles.
  4. Resilience, empathy, and integrity.
  5. Excellent listening skills, having the patience to support children and your staff team.
  6. Dedicated and passionate - with a genuine caring nature to support our young people to reach their full potential.
  7. Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
