Gore Glen Primary School is a fairly new school in a fast-growing community. It opened in August 2016 and is situated in Gorebridge, Midlothian; an area steeped in history with a large mining community. The new Borders Railway line runs through the area, and although Gorebridge is only 12 miles from Edinburgh city centre, it is surrounded by rural countryside, cycle routes, and walkways.
Gore Glen Primary School has approximately 330 students in the Mainstream Primary and continues to grow year on year, 56 children in our Early Learning Centre, and 24 children have access to our complex needs provision, Glenable.
We will be appointing one Deputy Head Teacher to replace the existing DHT who is moving to a Head Teacher role and a second Deputy Head Teacher for the new vacancy due to the growth of the school. Alongside this, our Strategic Leadership Team also includes one ASN Principal Teacher who leads Glenable, two Primary Principal Teachers, and a Senior Early Years Practitioner who leads the ELC.
The role of the Depute Head Teachers is to support the Senior Leadership Team in the delivery of the strategic vision, values, and aims to ensure successful delivery of high-quality learning and teaching throughout the school. We work collaboratively and believe strongly in the ethos that like Geese flying in formation together, we achieve more if we work together with common goals. The Deputy Heads will be instrumental in supporting and enhancing this ethos, developing a distributive leadership culture with colleagues, and modelling strong collaborative and strategic practices. Each DHT will have a clear remit either within Additional Support Needs or Learning, Teaching, Assessment, and Curriculum. These remits will be agreed together in the completion of the recruitment process.
Please feel free to take a look at our website Gore Glen Primary School and there is a little video message for you from some of our Gore Glen Learners here.
Interviews will take place on either 18th/19th November 2024 with the Head Teacher, a Quality Improvement Manager from Midlothian Council, and a Parent Council Member. We look forward to reading your application if you choose to apply.
