An exciting opportunity has become available for a Deputy Head Teacher to join our Arise Academy in Croydon.


At Arise Academy, we provide specialist education to pupils with SEN and disabilities between year 7 and year 13 (11-19). Our vision is to be a source of inspiration for our young people, where collaboration flourishes, and every student, regardless of their unique needs, finds a dependable and compassionate support system.


You will need to have the ability to demonstrate vision, resilience, and empathy and can evidence the capacity to deliver both high support and high challenge, with a constant focus and embodiment of the core values of Horizon education.


Working with the Headteacher Hayley, you will be a leader who demonstrates their commitment to our values in an intentional way, using them as a touchstone to define actions, make decisions and fulfil our collective mission.


The successful applicants will need to:

  1. Experience working as a Deputy Head Teacher in a similar environment.
  2. Be an Ofsted expert, maintain and build your understanding of requirements, helping the school move towards an outstanding rating.
  3. Ability to motivate, drive and support staff and pupils, using a person-centred approach.
  4. A real 'can do, will do' attitude, with the desire to succeed and improve our school.
  5. Excellent communication and top-quality relationship building skills.
  6. Has a commitment and passion to work with pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, along with a range of other difficulties including trauma, attachment and associated challenging behaviours.
  7. Has a clear vision, strong leadership, and effective management skills.
  8. Is an exceptionally enthusiastic and committed leader to manage and motivate pupils and staff, and can lead, motivate, and inspire teams to raise standards in student outcomes.
  9. Is familiar with the need for creativity in delivering the National Curriculum, whilst supporting pupils to overcome their barriers to learning.
  10. Has a solid understanding of the new Ofsted Education Inspection Framework and Independent School Standards.
