Introduction
The Parliamentary Security Department (PSD) is responsible for physical and personnel security across both Houses of Parliament and provides support to Members and staff when away from the Estate. Its purpose is to keep Parliament safe and open for business.
The Security Culture and Communications Team has two primary roles: to provide an internal comms function for PSD, a large and thriving department of 650 people; and to deliver security awareness campaigns and communications to the whole Parliamentary community, with an overall objective of improving security culture on the estate and reducing security incidents.
The Role
The Deputy Head of Security Engagement will be accountable to the Head of the Security Culture & Communications Team for their team's performance and delivery of the agreed strategy. Each post holder will have clear ownership of individual projects defined in the work plan but will also need to work closely with each other to support and provide resilience in busy periods. The wider team is growing and is expected to total six staff within the next year. There will be line management responsibilities for the Deputy Heads of Security Engagement, as well as responsibility for coordinating and overseeing the delivery of work on each individual project.
