Deputy Head of Risk

As a central part of the UK Legal entity, the Risk Management team is responsible for the independent identification, assessment, management and mitigation of business risk across the legal entity. As such the team needs to understand the relationships and dynamics between each business area and provide a robust, value-added programme.

The Deputy Head of Risk will support the Chief Risk Officer in the ownership and execution of the risk management framework and associated policies, procedures, tools and techniques for the business to assess and manage their risk for the UK regulated entity with a focus on Asset Management. The role holder will provide independent oversight and challenge of the business risk profile for the UK regulated entity.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assist and support the CRO (SMF 4) with the overall design, implementation and ongoing maintenance of the Risk Management Framework, including operational risk, credit risk, liquidity risk, market risk, investment risk, conduct risk and reputational risk and associated policies and procedures.
• Knowledge and practical experience of working in the Asset Management business.
• Provide strategic risk advice to the business on firm-wide risk matters, including prudential regulation (MIFIDPRU, ICARA), governance and organizational arrangements.
• Act as back-up Chair of the Risk Committee and advise and assist the CRO in ensuring appropriate escalation to the Board.
• Represent Risk at other leadership committees and Steer Cos as required.
• Act as a key advisor and escalation point for the Firm’s Risk officers, ensuring consistent and well-supported risk management guidance.
• Assist in the development and day-to-day management of the Firm’s dedicated Risk resources, providing guidance, mentorship and performance feedback.
• Help to assess, mitigate, monitor, measure and report on risks impacting on the business.
• Ensure that the business is able to demonstrate effective management of risks.
• Provide SME review of key risk & incident metrics.
• Help to promote and embed a strong risk culture within the firm, including educating and training staff on potential risk and the techniques used to mitigate such risk.
• Work closely with the Business and Finance to assess, quantify and stress test risk drivers and factors and the amount of capital and liquidity required to support them (ICARA).
• Support strategic planning for the business and develop an aligned risk strategy.
• Help with the selection and implementation of risk systems and associated user training.
• Assist with the design and implementation of a risk training programme for the UK regulated entity.
• Continuously collaborate with the US based Group Enterprise risk team & functions.
• Represent the Risk function internally and externally, including communication to stakeholders and ad-hoc interaction with the Regulator.
• Lead change program duties as and when required.

Your risk responsibilities include:

• To be regarded as an SME of applicable policies, procedures, risk appetites and tolerances.
• To consider current and potential risks when making or informing business decisions.
• The accurate and timely escalation and recording of incidents associated to relevant risks.
• Performing regular assessments of your risks and controls.
• Helping to ensure all required Risk Management training is completed.
