Job summary

CNWL recognises the importance of clinical education in developing the workforce and delivering a high quality services. The successful applicant will be joining a team of experienced Clinical Educators who work together across the trust to support all aspects of Clinical Education.

We are looking for a registered nurse with either a mental health or adult qualification. The deputy clinical educator core roles focuses on: supporting students, practice supervisors, practice assessors and being able to work with staff at all levels to support their professional development.

We are hoping to find someone who is as committed to education and developing others as we are. The successful applicant will work with staff and students across all CNWL services. This includes: London boroughs-Brent, K&C, Westminster and Camden.

The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users when visiting clinical areas but will not be delivering direct clinical interventions. Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role include:

Pre-registration learner and Practice Supervisor/Assessor support and liaison with Higher Education Institutions regarding placement allocation.

Implementation of 'Safe learning environment charter.'

Supporting the professional development of all staff and teams within clinical teams through teaching, facilitation and simulation.

Supporting staff to apply for and access Continuing Professional Development.

Supporting the recruitment and retention of students and staff. This includes facilitating on the trust Healthcare support worker induction and Preceptorship programme.

IT is a key component of the clinical education team. Applicants must be competent with working online and using: Teams, Zoom, Mentimeter, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and any other computer based platform.

About us

The CNWL Clinical Education team provides a key function to supporting the retention and development of staff across the Trust. The team works across all three divisions in the Trust and provides ongoing support via Clinical Educators who cover a geographical area. All Clinical Educators develop close working relationships with clinical teams within their area, assisting them with training, identifying development needs, student support and retaining new and existing staff.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ClinicalThe post holder will work with defined services to support clinical education across the trust. You will work with the Heads of Clinical Education and the Clinical Educators to identify areas of training needs and professional development. The Deputy Clinical Educator will signpost people to existing resources or you may work with colleagues to develop appropriate education solutions. The responsibilities within this role is:-To support students and learners on placement in the Trust.

To assist with the induction of students into CNWL.To ensure all students on placement within relevant services, have an identified practice supervisor and assessor.

To work alongside the clinical educators support practice supervisors, practice assessors with students on placement with their teams.To develop close working relationships and work with team leads, managers and work alongside Clinical Educators and the student placement hub in arranging and maximising clinical placements.To evaluate the students experience whilst on placement within the Trust and contribute to the quality assurance processes.

To work with the Trust Preceptorship Lead and Clinical Educators in the delivery of the preceptorship framework.To ensure all preceptees within the relevant services have an identified Preceptor in practice.To support and act as a resource for Preceptees and Preceptors and ensure they receive the updates they need to be effective in their role.

To provide support to students and facilitate recruitment of students to CNWL services.

The post holder will maintain excellent working relationships with partner Universities and placement staff.

To contribute to the Trust meeting its obligation to ensure that new Band 2-4 clinical staff complete the care certificate by supporting staff in practice to understand their role in signing off competencies.

To support clinical apprentices in practice.To work alongside the Clinical educators to support individuals and teams to plan their professional development in order to benefit service users and / or support service developments.

To ensure accurate records of professional development are maintained through the use of the Trusts learning management system (LDZ) and that courses are appropriately promotedTo understand and signpost staff on career development pathways designed to attract or retain staff.

To deliver clinical training including ECG and Venepuncture.Undertake other duties at a comparable level of responsibility as may be allocated to the post.

Practice DevelopmentMaintain an up to date knowledge of current trends in practice and research within the clinical placement specialty.Share learning and developments within the Clinical Education team and services.

Identify best practice in professional standards and demonstrate leadership that enables these concepts to be embedded at a local level.Be a visible presence within services.

Personal ResponsibilitiesWork in ways that promotes and demonstrates respect for services users, colleagues and carers.

Participate in supervision, annual appraisal and personal development planning and identify own training and educational needs.
