Job description

Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Children’s Deputy Manager to join a newly opened 4 bed children's home in Cardiff. As a Deputy Manager, you will assist in the management and administration of the home, ensuring the home meets all regulatory standards and provides an excellent quality of care to the children and young people who may stay up to 12 weeks. The aim is to understand their needs in greater depth and secure a placement more able to meet their needs. This is initially a temporary, full-time position for 37 hours per week offering a pay rate of £22.84 per hour.

Duties of the role will include:

  1. Ensuring that young people receive a sensitive service, which best meets their social, racial, medical, psychological, educational, cultural, physical identity and health and wellbeing needs.
  2. Ensuring that young people are empowered to have a voice when making decisions about their lives, futures and encouraging independence.
  3. Building positive relationships with families and others, ensuring consultation and participation.
  4. Ensuring integration with communities, using local facilities whilst developing and maintaining relationships with the local community.
  5. Assisting the manager to ensure the professional competence of the staff team is maintained.
  6. Taking responsibility at the direction of the Manager for ensuring that delegated budgets are managed effectively and the use of finances is properly monitored.
  7. Co-ordinating, attending and chairing meetings as required and ensure that meetings are conducted in a manner which promotes inclusion and achievement of objectives.

The ideal candidate will have:
  1. Enhanced DBS
  2. Experience of working with young people in a residential childcare environment
  3. L Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People)
  4. Social Care Wales registration
  5. Full UK Driving Licence
