Qualifications

Depot Electrician / Maintenance Engineer

Location: St Albans
Job Type: Full-time

Overview

We're seeking a proactive Depot Electrician / Maintenance Engineer to handle electrical maintenance, repairs, and installations across depot facilities. The role supports smooth operations through both planned and reactive maintenance, while also contributing to general building upkeep.

Responsibilities
  1. Conduct routine checks, fault-finding, and repairs on electrical systems and machinery.
  2. Install, inspect, and test equipment in line with safety and regulatory standards (e.g., BS 7671).
  3. Perform general maintenance on mechanical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and infrastructure.
  4. Ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures, including testing and certification.
  5. Keep accurate maintenance logs and provide recommendations for improvements.
  6. Collaborate with depot staff and contractors; support junior team members as needed.

Requirements
Qualifications:
  1. Electrical Installation (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
  2. 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  3. PAT Testing certification (preferred)
Experience & Skills:
  1. Electrical maintenance in depot/industrial settings
  2. Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  3. Familiarity with mechanical/general building systems
  4. Able to read schematics and work independently or in a team
Personal Attributes:
  1. Safety-conscious, organised, and detail-focused
  2. Good communicator with a hands-on approach
