Dental Care Professional Tutor (Post qualification) (Oral Health)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Tutor to work within the School of Dental Care Professionals (SODCP).

The Dental Care Professional Tutor will be an integral part of the Post qualification team (Oral Health) within the SODCP. This will include delivery and assessment within the Dental Care Professional Post qualification programme (Oral Health) and line management of learners.

Main duties of the job

1. Responsible for delivery of some Dental Care Professional programmes.
2. Assessment of Learners within some Dental Care Professional programme.
3. Line management of Learners within some Dental Care Professional programmes.
4. Maintenance and updating of resources used within some Dental Care Professional programmes.

Job description

Job responsibilities

1. Participate in recruitment and selection of learners for some Dental Care Professional programmes.
2. Participate in learner induction.
3. Responsible for delivery of some Dental Care Professional Induction programmes.
4. Monitor learner appearance and behaviour and take appropriate action when required.
5. Provide support of learners within some Dental Care Professional programmes.
6. Agree Assessment plans with allocated learners, working with schemes of work.
7. Review Assessment plans with learners.
8. Organise planned observations of learners in the workplace.
9. Judging competency of a variety of learner evidence against occupational standards.
10. Involvement with course and curriculum organisation for some Dental Care Professional programmes.
11. Develop and evaluate teaching materials.
12. Demonstrate safe use of equipment/materials used in dentistry and supervise use by learners.
13. Act as nominated assessor for assigned learners.
14. Participate in own appraisal.
15. Conduct appraisals / draw up development plans for learners.
16. Periodically participate in chairside assisting during a range of dental procedures including provision of pre- and post-operative advice and instruction to maintain clinical skills and competence of practice to facilitate quality education.
17. Attend meetings as and when appropriate both in LDI and externally.

• Registrable Dental Nurse Qualification e.g. C& G Diploma.
