Job description

This is a full time or part time position.

Position Summary:

Assists the dentist in providing a wide variety of dental procedures.

PROGRAM SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains supplies and equipment including x-ray developers/processor and pour models.
  • Works with the dentist to improve their skills to function as independently as legal regulations permit; and is scheduled to be chair-side with the dentist in the practice, therefore the position requires flexible work hours according to the needs of the department.
  • Receives and prepares patients.
  • Charts dental records.
  • Updates medical and dental histories and assists in maintaining dental records.
  • Sterilizes dental instruments including hand pieces and disinfecting operatories according to established guidelines and after each patient.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

One of the following combinations of education and employment experience must be met in order to be considered for the position:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Training certification as a Dental Assistant preferred.
  • One year relevant experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with a dental electronic record (EDR) strongly preferred.
  • Must hold current MA Licensure to practice as a Dental Assistant.
  • Must have a current BLS certification.
  • Certification in radiology is required.

This position reports to the Director of Dental Services.
