Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC) is passionate about providing high-quality services to our communities, residents, and businesses. This means we must employ and retain the most talented and dedicated people.
Situated within the heart of the Cambridge-Peterborough Growth Area, Huntingdonshire is a beautiful district that boasts thriving market towns and many attractive villages, each with its own identity. We are an innovative and forward-thinking local authority whose residents are at the heart of our decision-making.
At HDC we want to employ staff who embody our icare values (Inspiring, Collaborative, Accountable, Respectful, Enterprising), all of which support our ultimate purpose of putting our customers first.
Are you looking for a role in getting directly involved in the council’s decision-making process, working with councillors and supporting council meetings? Then HDC has a fantastic opportunity to join a small but busy team who provide high-quality and efficient services.
We are looking for an enthusiastic team player who ideally has experience of working in a similar role. You will be required to attend a range of formal Member meetings and undertake all the associated tasks relating to the management of formal meetings, including preparing and publishing agendas, reports, and minutes. You will work closely with elected Members and senior officers, providing professional advice on democratic, governance, and constitutional issues.
Ideally, you will be expected to demonstrate knowledge and experience of committee administration in either local government or similar and will need to have the ability to react to work pressures as required to meet statutory deadlines. You should enjoy working as a team player and be well organized, with high levels of accuracy in managing a varied workload.
Please note many of our Member meetings are held in the evening, so flexibility for evening work is required. The post is full-time, but part-time working may be considered.
The post holder should have the ability to work flexibly, with a combination of working from home and office-based while we continue with the hybrid working arrangements. However, there will also be a requirement to undertake office-based activities within the role on a regular basis for in-person Member meetings, and you should therefore be within commutable distance to our offices in Huntingdon.
An offer of employment is conditional upon having the right to work in the UK. Huntingdonshire District Council does not hold a Sponsorship Licence and is unable to provide a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) or take over sponsorship for any role.
Deadline for applications: 12.00pm Wednesday 5 March 2025
