We have facilities across the UK and are looking for a Demand and Planning Manager to join our team in Burnley.
The Demand and Planning Manager will work closely with sales, production, and supply chain teams to forecast demand, plan capacity, and manage production workflow to meet business targets.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience in demand planning and capacity management, and a solid understanding of print manufacturing processes, particularly in flexible packaging.
This role is crucial for balancing customer demand with production capacity, ensuring that our resources are utilized efficiently to meet customer orders on time, while maintaining optimal inventory levels. The role will also support and help develop the site's SIOP process.
Demand and Planning:
- Manage the planning department, including the day to day line management of the Burnley Planner(s).
- End to end management of the site's demand and capacity planning, ensuring each job is delivered OTIF through the manufacturing process.
- Balance factory output to ensure WIP remains in line with working capital expectations.
- Ensure plan adherence through regular communication with the operational teams.
- Collaborate with sales, customer service, and supply chain teams to gather accurate demand forecasts. Analyze historical data, customer orders, and market trends to develop short-term and long-term demand forecasts.
- Use demand planning/ERP tools and software to manage forecast accuracy and adjust for fluctuations.
- Work closely with production teams to identify bottlenecks and optimize the use of printing equipment, laminators, slitters, and other machinery.
- Coordinate with supply chain to ensure material availability aligns with production schedules.
- Develop capacity plans to handle peak periods and contingency strategies for potential disruptions.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and drive initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
Strategic Input and Business Improvement
- Design and implement a planning process that supports the business’s long term goals, with an emphasis on customer service.
- Drive continuous improvement across all departments to deliver year on year improvement in productivity.
- Use and evolve the existing reporting data to maximise operational output.
Reporting
- Produce daily reports including WIP, Lead Time, Press Plan to assist other teams.
- Report and recommend the timings and manning hours required for peak periods, making recommendations on hours required to meet launch and normal activity.
- Provide SIOP reporting documentation in line with Supply Chain Manager/Plant Expectations.
- Deliver OTIF-R and OTIF-P to the targets set by the business.
- Establish strong working relationships with Sales and Operational teams.
