Job Description
People and Service Management responsibilities for the following support services to FPCP:

  • Business Management
  • Contract Management for all CP contracts

Line Management Responsibilities for 2 x SEO overseeing a team of 17.
This role is operational delivery within a multi-disciplined team as part of the Defence Business Services FPCP function but elements of the role are cross Defence Business Services.
It is designed to maintain our focus on management information, business management and operational planning and performance which all underpin our strategic objectives as set out in our DBS Corporate & Business Plans, and support wider organisational design changes in DBS.

  • You will lead, own and manage management information and business management function colleagues.
  • You will lead, own and manage the contracts that support our service delivery.

Reporting directly into the FPCP Central Operations and Operational Management Team Head you will be trusted to take responsibility for delivering a range of better business outcomes aligned to organisational priorities and build a strong rapport and effective relationships through leadership of your teams and senior leaders within FPCP and across DBS.
You Will Be Trusted To:

  • Inspire, lead and motivate a diverse, multi-disciplined team to deliver high quality business outputs and oversight of Supplier management and Business Management functions.
  • Be present and visible to staff and stakeholders and build positive relationships, encouraging innovation, and engender a strong customer service excellence ethos across DBS and MOD.
  • Plan and allocate available resources to Projects or Programmes based on priorities, capacity, and capability.
  • Lead on workforce skills planning across FPCP including the delivery of functional training.
  • Working with FPCP SLT and FCS to effect management of Finance budget and MCT allocations and the production of MI to support this activity.
  • Lead on the Annual Delivery Plan for FPCP team, creation and updates.
  • Lead on the supplier management, and control of all FPCP contracts, including ensuring performance is met, and risks are escalated. You will also be responsible for any contract re-let process.
  • Produce high quality, relevant and timely Communications and Briefing Packs to Ops Board, Management Board, Corporate Board and PRR Board, and Customer Service Excellence (CSE) Accreditation.
  • Maintain your own continuous professional development to retain expert status.
  • Coordinate the maintenance of the FPCP service catalogue aligning this to our financial structure.

Person specification:

  • Ability to lead, manage and co-ordinate remote working teams, blended with the ability to provide expert opinion to achieve clarity and consistency of approach to operational delivery.
  • Astuteness and ability to engage, communicate and influence across grades.
  • Ability to collaboratively work positively and proactively with individuals, teams across DBS, MOD and the wider Government HR/Finance community when/if required.
  • Experience of Management Information & Decision Making – able to design and co-ordinate the provision of MI to help inform service line demand and process effectiveness, to enable informed decisions to be made.
  • Is creative, with strong presentation and drafting skills.
  • Strong data analytical skills.
  • Experienced in problem ownership, and able to lead through to resolution.
  • A good working knowledge of O365 tools.
