Job summary

Decontamination technician Supervisor/ Senior Nursing Assistant' in CTS at the Royal Stoke. We welcome applicants to work within a diverse team, providing care for patients undergoing diagnostics, investigations and ambulatory surgery.

Main duties of the job
  1. Participate and undertake the role of decontamination technical supervisor of medical devices contributing to the clinical care of patients.
  2. Participate and perform a full range of decontamination duties for which competency has been assessed, verified and documented.
  3. Manage decontamination records in own area of work, recording all decontamination processes and data sets accurately, reporting conformance and non-conformance to a senior decontamination supervisor/registered nurse.
  4. Record all clinical tasks undertaken for patients within the nursing documentation.
  5. Supervise all junior healthcare assistants in the decontamination of medical devices in CTS.
  6. Liaise with senior decontamination staff (registered nurses and estates), apprentices, and trainee decontamination staff.
  7. Ensure standard operating procedures are adhered to by all healthcare staff in accordance with quality management systems.
  8. Be responsible for a range of clinical, non-clinical and clerical support tasks under the indirect supervision of a registered nurse or registered nurse practitioner.
  9. Implement aspects of clinical care and act on own initiative (work under indirect supervision / or alone) where appropriate and regularly assess, evaluate and report on actions and activities to the registered nurse or registered nurse practitioner.
  10. Engage in personal and professional development opportunities in order to maintain knowledge, skills and competence to practice within their role.

  14. No duties are to be undertaken unless they have received the appropriate training or instruction.
Person Specification
Care certificate level three

Essential: Care cert Level three

Desirable: Minimum of 12 months experience as a nursing assistant in an acute care setting.

Decontamination knowledge and understanding

Essential: Decontamination policy knowledge and understanding.

Desirable: 12 months experience in decontamination processes.
