Position: Deck Electrician (Previous NNS DE Experience Only)
Job Location: Newport News, Virginia
Shift: Variable, 12:00 AM – 11:59 PM (Sunday through Saturday)

Rate of Pay: $27.31 per hour (per diem available for those that qualify)

DESCRIPTION

Hutco, Inc. is seeking skilled Deck Electricians with previous Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) Deck Electrician experience for a long-term opportunity in Newport News, VA. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in electrical systems within the Industrial, Marine, or Commercial Nuclear fields.

REQUIREMENTS

Experience & Skills:

1. Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret shipboard electrical installation drawings, schematics, wiring tables, and work packages.
2. Independent Work: Able to perform electrical tasks independently with minimal guidance.
3. Meter & Instrument Usage: Proficient in using electrical meters and test instruments (e.g., volt-ohm meters, clamp-on ammeters, insulation resistance testers).
4. General Deck Electrician Duties:
   • Lay out and mount electrical equipment and wireways.
   • Install cable penetrations in equipment, bulkheads, and decks.
   • Perform cable installation, termination, cut-in, and hook-up.
5. Tool Proficiency: Skilled in using electrician hand tools (e.g., pliers, sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers, connector crimping tools).
6. Physical Ability: Must be able to climb ladders, crawl, bend, stoop, work in confined spaces, and at heights.
7. Training Requirement: Must pass Stud Shooting training and associated vision test administered by NNS.

Physical Work Conditions:

• Demanding physical effort, including work in varying temperature and humidity conditions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Climbing, bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling.
• Lifting and carrying tools and equipment.
• Working in confined spaces and at elevated heights.
• Good vision, hand-eye coordination, and hearing required.

SPECIAL NOTES

• Only candidates with previous NNS Deck Electrician experience will be considered.
• U.S. Citizenship is required due to federal contract requirements.
• Must be able to access U.S. Government facilities and comply with NNPI safeguarding requirements.
• Must maintain reliable attendance and be available for overtime as required.
