Alzheimer Scotland is Scotland’s national dementia charity. Our aim is to make sure nobody faces dementia alone. We provide support and information to people with dementia, their carers and families, we campaign for the rights of people with dementia and fund vital dementia research.

What you’ll do

You will be responsible for supporting people living with dementia to achieve good outcomes using a range of therapeutic interventions, resources, and activities as appropriate. Working as part of the Registered and Commissioned Services/Community Connections team, you will have responsibility for ensuring that services are of the highest quality and meet Alzheimer Scotland’s vision for unique therapeutic, highly person-centred support.

You will work with the wider team and Day Services Manager to ensure safe practice and delivery of high-quality, person-centred, therapeutic Registered and Commissioned Services/Community Connections, ensuring practice complies with Alzheimer Scotland’s policies. You will contribute to evidencing, reviewing, and continually improving the quality of the services and will participate in internal audit and Care Inspectorate inspections.

You may operate within a building-based Day Care or as part of a Community Connection team delivering Community Groups and Outreach services across an allocated area. At times, this will involve working without supervision in the absence of the Day Services Manager.

You will work with the wider team to evidence that services meet Alzheimer Scotland’s Quality Guarantees, Scotland’s Health and Social Care standards, and other quality frameworks including those of the Care Inspectorate where relevant. This includes ensuring that the activities and support offered meet the identified personal outcomes of those attending the services.

What you’ll have

The successful candidate will have a good understanding and/or experience of working with or supporting people living with dementia and their families. This will include an understanding of the benefit of high quality, evidence-based therapeutic activity, ongoing evaluation, quality assurance, and continuous improvement.

Knowledge and understanding of the Health and Social Care Standards and SSSC codes of practice and the Care Inspectorate and their role in registered services.

Understanding and knowledge of dementia, mild cognitive impairment, and Brain Health and experience of working with or supporting people living with dementia and their families.

The successful candidate will have a recognised professional qualification in health, social work, or related field, to SCQF Level 6 (SVQ 2).

The successful candidate for this post will be required to provide proof of right to work in the UK and will also be subject to a PVG check through Disclosure Scotland.

What you’ll do

As Day Services Manager you will be responsible for leading and managing high quality, therapeutic registered day services and commissioned and non-commissioned community supports for people with dementia, those at greater risk of dementia, and their families, and carers within the area.

You will be responsible for ensuring that services are of the highest quality, meet Alzheimer Scotland’s vision for unique therapeutic, highly person-centred support. There is also the responsibility for ensuring that our commissioned services meet all service level agreement, contract specifications, and Alzheimer Scotland’s quality guarantees.

You will have overall day-to-day responsibility for the services within the area and will be responsible for promoting the services with key local stakeholders within Health and Social Care as well as relevant other organisations. As Day Services Manager you will manage the referral and assessment process.

You will work collaboratively with the Head of Services to ensure safe practice and delivery of high-quality, person-centred therapeutic day services, ensuring practice complies with Alzheimer Scotland’s policies. You will be responsible for evidencing, reviewing, and continually improving the quality of the services and will proactively participate in internal audit and Care Inspectorate inspections. This will include evidencing that services meet Alzheimer Scotland’s Quality Guarantees, Scotland’s Health and Social Care standards and other quality frameworks including those of the Care Inspectorate where relevant. This includes ensuring that the activities and supports offered meet the identified personal outcomes of those attending the services.

You will provide strong line management and leadership to your team, through setting clear objectives and outcomes, regular review within Support & Development processes, and undertaking appraisals.

What you’ll have

The successful candidate will have experience of managing a team in a social care, health or other similar setting or be able to demonstrate a clear knowledge and understanding of the key principles and good practice of effectively managing and leading a team.

About the Role

As an Outreach Worker, you will be based in Lochaber supporting people affected by mental illness. Focusing on one-to-one support you will carry a case load to develop and review personal support plans to help achieve person-centred and National Health and Wellbeing outcomes. You will support people in their homes, communities and in the registered Change Mental Health Resource Centre based in Fort William. You may also support group and other activities in the Resource Centre – although one-to-one support will be your main focus.

You will support the Locality, Service and Area Managers, in their strategic role to meet national and funder criteria and liaise with other statutory and third sector agencies to make appropriate signposting as needed and to raise awareness of Change Mental Health services. You will work closely with partners in the community to identify gaps in the service where they arise and implement solutions in partnership with your line manager.

You will work autonomously, being able to judge when to refer to your manager and take a lead role in developing the service.

At present, there are an estimated 8,464 citizens living with dementia in Edinburgh. Around 300 of these people are under the age of 65 years old.

What you’ll do

As Driver within our Renfrewshire services, you will be responsible for transporting people to and from our Day Care service via minibus. This role may involve a number of journeys throughout the day within the local area, picking up and dropping off attendees back to their homes.

This role may require a degree of moving and assisting support to help support attendees enter and exit the bus safely.

A critical element of the role includes the responsibility for ensuring the vehicle is in a clean and safe condition, including the completion of regular safety and quality checks.

What you’ll have

The successful candidate will be required to provide a supportive experience during the travel to an Alzheimer Scotland activity. It is essential that the Driver has good communication skills and a caring approach to ensure a welcoming and inclusive approach as a first point of contact with the charity. Experience of working with people living with dementia would be an advantage.
