Database SQL Query Writer

Overview

As an SQL Query Writer at Arcus FM, you will play a crucial role in enabling data-driven decision-making across the organisation. You will design, write, and optimise SQL queries to manage large datasets effectively, ensuring the delivery of accurate and actionable insights to support key business processes. This position requires strong technical expertise, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for data analysis and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

As an SQL Writer, you will be responsible for four key deliverables:

Data Query Development

• Write, test, and optimise complex SQL queries for MySQL and Microsoft SQL (T-SQL) databases.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and ensure the generation of precise, efficient queries.

Cloud Data Management

• Work within cloud environments, including Azure and AWS, to manage ETL pipelines and integrations.
• Ensure data accuracy and security within cloud infrastructures.

Data Analysis and Insight Generation

• Analyse large datasets to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for operational improvement.
• Translate raw data into actionable insights for business stakeholders.

Documentation and Knowledge Sharing

• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of data processes and query logic.
• Ensure clarity and accessibility for technical and non-technical team members.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have advanced proficiency in SQL query writing for MySQL and T-SQL, strong knowledge of data structures and relational databases, and experience with cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS. Other requirements include:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
• Certifications in SQL or cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS) are a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to analyse large datasets to derive insights and solve complex problems.
• Strong attention to detail, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present data findings to nontechnical audiences.
• A collaborative approach to working within cross-functional teams.
