Company Introduction

We have an exciting opportunity with a government body committed to innovation and digital transformation. They are currently looking for a skilled Database Engineer to join their team for a six-month contract.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives

• You will be responsible for managing and optimising database services to ensure performance, security, and high availability across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Provide daily status reporting of all database services to relevant stakeholders.
• Deliver monthly performance optimisation and security assessment reports with actionable recommendations.
• Perform security patching of database servers and Corporate Oracle Enterprise Manager platforms in line with policies.
• Manage certificates for Oracle platforms, including rotations and troubleshooting issues.
• Ensure timely resolution of complex database and cloud infrastructure incidents and problems.
• Collaborate with product teams and developers to resolve technical issues and improve services.
• Deliver weekly database health reports and provide metrics for monthly service reporting.

Required Skills/Experience

• Strong experience with Oracle Database Administration and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
• Proficiency in Amazon RDS (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and SQL Server Database Administration.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform and Ansible.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex database and cloud infrastructure incidents.

Desirable Skills/Experience

• Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of AWS Cloud Infrastructure management.
• Familiarity with database performance tuning and optimisation.
• Experience in cloud security best practices.
