What you'll be doing:

  1. Develop and maintain an effective IT Database function that supports the needs of the group's activities, including the integration and management of cloud-based database solutions across all Azure platforms, including PaaS, IaaS, and SaaS.
  2. Provide effective access to corporate data while ensuring the security and integrity of data items and their control environment.
  3. Installation, upgrading, configuring, administering, monitoring, troubleshooting, and securing production, test, replication, and cluster servers for MS SQL Server.
  4. Administer large complex databases, including High Availability Disaster Recovery (HADR), security management, job creation, alerts, SQL mail management, and using tools such as NT Performance Monitor, SQL Query Analyzer, Extended Events, SQL Profiler, and third-party tools (Redgate and SolarWinds).
  5. Manage and maintain databases across all Azure platforms, ensuring performance, availability, and assisting in monitoring failovers across Azure systems.
  6. Implement automated backup strategies, manage point-in-time recovery for on-premises databases and across all Azure platforms, and control backups and recovery of databases and associated software.
  7. Use tools like Azure Monitor, SQL Insights, and Redgate to track database health, optimise performance, and monitor databases both in Azure and on-premises, addressing any issues promptly.

What we’re looking for:

  1. 5 years’ experience in Microsoft SQL environments. Database design and optimisation.
  2. Azure SQL knowledge and Microsoft Certification.
  3. SQL Server database experience version 2016, 2019 and 2022.
  4. SQL Troubleshoot and root cause analysis.
  5. TSQL.
  6. MS SQL Clustering.
