Job Description

Data Scientist - (Access Control Programme)

Contract Length: 6 months+

Location: Hertfordshire - Hybrid (some travel to the office)

Day Rate: £450-£500 (Outside IR35)

Start Date: ASAP

Understanding Solutions are looking for an experienced Data Scientist to support a global access control programme spanning 150+ sites. This initiative aims to replace multiple legacy systems with a unified access control platform, but data quality challenges are emerging. Your role will focus on data analysis, cleansing, and reconciliation to improve accuracy and efficiency.

The Data Scientist will work closely with project teams, architects, and an external ML consultancy to enhance data quality, develop a Single Customer View, and support the transition of an ML-based data tool in-house.

Experience Needed:
  • Strong Python skills - hands-on experience with data processing and reconciliation
  • Data Science, Data Quality, or Data Analytics expertise - working with real-world messy data
  • Strong elements/experience in Project Management methods.
  • Experience with data cleansing, duplication detection, and automation
  • Excellent communication skills - able to simplify complex data issues for non-technical teams
  • Attention to detail & problem-solving mindset - tackling inconsistent data formats, errors, and governance challenges
  • Prior experience working with access control data or security systems is a plus
