Your new role at NewDay

The Data Science team is at the heart of NewDay, solving real world problems and providing transformational value for the business. Through our proprietary platforms and analytical assets, we provide infrastructure, data and insights to our business partners. Through our strong data science models and reporting capabilities, we support responsible lending and a top-notch credit journey for our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Use sophisticated statistical and machine learning techniques to identify new trends and relationships in data.
  2. Harvest, wrangle and prototype new data sources internally and externally to NewDay to create new value for NewDay and our customers.
  3. Provide quality and detailed data science outputs, sharing and following up with as much detail as appropriate or requested by senior managers.
  4. Develop knowledge of all relevant data resources within NewDay and in the wider Credit Industry.
  5. Governance: support the models throughout their lifecycle from conception, development, implementation, testing and monitoring, with the required level of documentation to follow internal procedures and standards.

What you'll bring

We need knowledge, experience + expertise in:
  1. University degree in a highly analytical discipline (data science, mathematics, quantitative finance, economics, etc.).
  2. Proficiency in statistical data modelling techniques in python.
  3. Experience with working with raw datasets and performing data wrangling pre-modelling.
  4. A hands-on data scientist or modeller background.
  5. Experience with one or more of credit risk, collections risk, affordability, IFRS9 and customer credit behaviours models.

And would love you to know or learn:
  1. How to present sophisticated findings clearly, adapting the level of detail to the audience.
  2. Be self-motivated and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities evolve.
  3. Have a strong sense of accountability and ownership, with great organizational, planning and time management skills.
  4. Be personable with excellent interpersonal & written communication skills.
  5. Have great team spirit, supporting team and colleagues on tasks big and small.
