Jersey Electricity (JE) is seeking a Data Protection Specialist to join our dedicated team and play a pivotal role in safeguarding personal information and enhancing our data protection practices.
The role holder will work closely with the Data Protection Officer (DPO) to make sure we comply with relevant regulations and embed robust data protection measures across the company. Beyond that, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact and drive positive change with diverse teams across the entire business to shape a safer, more secure future for all islanders.

Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the DPO on various projects.
- Implement and refine data protection program elements, staying updated on regulatory changes.
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and reports related to data protection.
- Conduct impact assessments and assessments of data handling practices.
- Maintain and update records of processing activities across the organisation.
- Assist with third-party due diligence to mitigate data protection risks.
- Support internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
- Enhance and implement learning modules.
- Deliver targeted training on data protection for various business units.
- Provide ongoing support to the DPO, including responding to queries and conducting research.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of GDPR and other data protection regulations. Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts.
- Experience: At least 3+ years in data protection/privacy and 5+ years in governance, risk, or control roles.
- Certifications: Relevant qualifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM or PC.dp (preferred).
- Skills: Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills. Ability to partner with colleagues and independently with professionalism and attention to detail.
