Data Protection Manager

Data Protection Manager - Bath/Swindon/Oxford

Excellent opportunity for a Data Protection Manager to join a UK Top 100 law firm.

Our client is an award-winning UK law firm with offices spread across the South of England. They are currently looking for a Data Protection Manager to join their Risk & Best Practice team in either Bath, Swindon or Oxford.

The role will involve supporting the Director of Risk and Best Practice and Senior Risk Lawyer in the delivery of the firm's risk management and compliance service, with a particular focus on data protection. Duties will include:

1. updating and monitoring of the firm's policies and procedures;
2. managing Subject Access Requests and other data requests;
3. creating data protection impact assessments;
4. managing the ongoing appointment of the EU Data Representative and the annual renewal of that service;
5. advising the firm on the data protection/PECR implications of new business initiatives and general queries;
6. managing and maintaining the firm's Register of Processing Activities ("Data Map") and risk assessments;
7. advising on reported data breaches;
8. identifying opportunities to enhance protection of sensitive/higher risk data and reduce data breaches;
9. identifying trends in data breaches, bringing serious issues to the attention of the Data Compliance Officer;
10. keeping up to date with changes to domestic and international data protection laws and updating policies accordingly.

To be considered, you must have experience of managing data protection compliance with a strong knowledge of data protection laws applicable to the UK. Ideally, you will have previous experience of working within a law firm but this is not essential.
