Data Protection Associate - Manchester / hybrid


BCL Legal is assisting a leading national law firm in its search for a Privacy & Data Associate to join its prestigious Privacy and Data team in Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity to work within one of the largest and most respected teams in the UK, focusing on high-profile and complex data protection and cybersecurity matters. This role is ideal for a solicitor who is passionate about data protection law and looking for an opportunity to develop in a dynamic and supportive environment.


The Role
  1. Working as part of a 20-strong team, including 5 partners, handling a diverse range of data protection and cybersecurity matters.
  2. Engaging in complex, high-profile work including global breach response, data protection audits, compliance programs, and cybersecurity advisory.
  3. Exposure to a range of sectors, with a particular focus on technology and financial services.
  4. Developing your business development skills while building and managing relationships with clients across the firm's international roster.
  5. Have the opportunity to contribute to the team's continued success and progression towards partnership.

Requirements:
  1. At least 1 year of post-qualification experience in data protection, privacy, or cybersecurity law.
  2. A keen interest in sectors such as technology and financial services, and a desire to work across various data-driven industries.
  3. Strong experience in GDPR, data protection compliance, data breaches, and cross-border issues would be advantageous.
  4. A collaborative, team-oriented approach and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
