Job description

PlayStation isn’t just the Best Place to Play — it’s also the Best Place to Work. Today, we’re recognized as a global leader in entertainment producing The PlayStation family of products and services including PlayStation5, PlayStation4, PlayStationVR, PlayStationPlus, acclaimed PlayStation software titles from PlayStation Studios, and more.

PlayStation also strives to create an inclusive environment that empowers employees and embraces diversity. We welcome and encourage everyone who has a passion and curiosity for innovation, technology, and play to explore our open positions and join our growing global team.

The PlayStation brand falls under Sony Interactive Entertainment, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony Corporation.

The Team:

As part of the Data & AI Platform team within PlayStation you will join a group of Data Product Managers each responsible for managing and setting the strategic priorities for a specific group of Data Products. In this role, you will own the definition and roadmap for Subscription related Data Products such as PlayStation Plus and work closely with the Commerce Data Product Manager to shape, deliver and activate a range of Sales Data Products for our business users and partners.

Located across London and California, the team is passionate about gaming and data, as well as being friendly and inclusive. In this role you will work as part of a global team, innovating on the existing data product offerings and defining what comes next for PlayStation teams around the world.

The Role:

The Subscriptions & Sales Data Product Manager is responsible for defining business requirements and working with stakeholders to set the direction for their Data Product with a view to enabling teams across PlayStation to easily activate the wealth of PlayStation subscriptions data available to them. The ideal candidate is a Product Management professional with experience making innovative & impactful Data Products a reality. You will have excellent business acumen and a strong technical understanding of data lifecycles to effectively engage and partner with product, engineering and business teams. It would also be helpful if you have previously worked with subscriptions data and have an understanding of the types of queries and analyses that teams routinely perform to make business decisions and provoke action.

Adept at anchoring your decisions in strategy and defending them with data, you thrive in an active and forward thinking environment. This is a high impact role that requires strong technical and business skills to deliver innovative Data Products for internal stakeholders and partners across the PlayStation ecosystem.

Role & Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for a portfolio of Subscriptions and Sales Data Products that delights users across the PlayStation organisation.
  • Define product vision and strategies, using domain expertise, identifying opportunities and addressing stakeholder needs.
  • Conduct business analysis to define business problems and desired outcomes and champion the voice of the customer.
  • Manage product roadmaps, align business and technical needs, turn data and insights into actionable projects, prioritize features and determine rollout strategy.
  • Collaborate with engineering and analytics teams to build best-in-class solutions, balancing long-term needs with short-term wins.
  • Build positive relationships with business stakeholders, drive priorities aligned to business goals and communicate product roadmaps. Support go-to-market planning and execution.
  • Partner with platform teams to set effective measurement frameworks all along the Data Product lifecycle. Ensure features are backed by relevant metrics, and that success is measured on an ongoing basis. Understand and communicate effectively how your Data Product is used to drive business success.
  • Engage on upcoming project launches and strategic programs where the Data Product is impacted or where there might be opportunities to provide new insights to business teams.
  • Ensure documentation and product metadata for the Data Product is consistent and documented to a high standard, with a particular focus on making it relevant and accessible to business users.
  • Bring new ideas to the team to drive forward a more mature approach to managing the Data Product lifecycle, ways of working and innovative approaches that will benefit PlayStation teams, our players and partners.
Required Qualifications, Skills, & Experience:
  • 2+ years experience as a Product Manager
  • Experience in managing subscriptions or e-commerce products, with knowledge of key consumer journeys (onboarding, activation, funnel optimization, content engagement, churn management, personalization)
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with data-informed product design and decision making.
  • Experience working with cloud-based data warehouses (e.g. Snowflake using basic SQL skills) and commercial reporting suites (e.g. MicroStrategy, Tableau, Domo and Adobe Analytics).
  • Excellent communicator who can foster positive working relationships with a wide array of stakeholders across organisations, including sales, marketing, legal, data governance, engineering and related functions.
  • An ambitious self-starter who deals well with ambiguity and can effectively manage multiple programs and business initiatives at the same time.
  • Strong, influential cross-functional team player with experience working with data engineering teams in an agile environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
