Bloomberg's Legal & Compliance Department plays a critical role in supporting our businesses and operations around the world. The Data Privacy Legal team provides Bloomberg with legal guidance on a global basis for a wide range of areas including product development and review, customer agreements, data subject requests, internal policies, and privacy notices.
The Role:
Based in our award-winning EMEA headquarters in London, this is a great opportunity to work within the experienced Data Privacy function. Reporting to our Global Head of Data Privacy (based in London), you will ensure Bloomberg meets its legal, regulatory, and reputational responsibility with respect to data privacy matters. You will work closely with colleagues across the globe.
We'll trust you to:
- Provide legal advice on all data privacy legal requirements
- Be actively involved in product development and drafting relevant customer-facing documentation
- Draft and negotiate contractual provisions with customers and partners
- Advise on data subject rights requests
- Respond to third-party questionnaires and inquiries
- Advise Human Resources and Recruiting
- Actively monitor and advise on legal and regulatory developments
You'll need to have:- A law degree and be admitted as a solicitor in England & Wales is preferred; we will also consider a qualified lawyer in a major European jurisdiction
- 2-4 years* practicing as a Data Privacy counsel at a law firm, in-house and/or in the government
- Subject matter expertise in the EU/UK GDPR, rules, regulations, and industry standards
- A passion and ability to partner, advise and communicate with senior business people
- Strong contract drafting and negotiating skills, including experience building and maintaining templates and associated processes and trainings
- Prior experience responding to regulators
- Experience partnering with compliance and risk professionals
- Ability to cross-collaborate efficiently with legal colleagues, engineers, software developers, product development, and other teams across different regions
- Strong communication and presentation skills and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, open-plan office environment

We'd love to see:- Experience working with regulated financial institutions, software and other technology and data companies
- Experience advising on other data privacy laws across the EMEA region
- A real passion for being part of a global in-house team
- Proactive engagement with colleagues within and outside the Department
- High degree of independence, initiative and decisiveness
- In-house experience or a client secondment
