About The Role

The Data & Insight Analyst sits in the Asset Risk Function, which has the responsibility for forecasting Motability Operation’s key financial risks, including Residual Value and SMR, Insurance Lease Pricing, Economic Capital, as well as producing the customer pricing. This role will play a key role in the Data & Insight team operating in a matrix management operation, responsible for the delivery of strong data governance that ensures data as a trusted asset, driving exceptional insight to drive tangible business activity.

Reporting into the Data and Insights Lead, the role has the following key responsibilities:
  • You will deliver the timely and critically considered data and insight for all BAU activity, proactively delivering relevant daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly data reporting and insight which is actively used and understood by the business, ensuring the insight and way it is delivered evolves to meet the evolving needs of the business.
  • You will maintain a well-rounded understanding of our business model and Asset Risk activities in order to identify and formulate appropriate data insight and ‘so what stories’.
  • You will proactively deliver the timely and critically considered data and insight for strategic projects with an agreed Data Team outcome requirement, designing and proactively delivering data reporting and insight solutions in agreement with the needs of the business.
  • You will inform and champion new and existing ways to communicate clear and tangible insight that bridges the gap between the data and the Asset Risk deliverables, from visualisation to storytelling that engages with a wide variety of stakeholders at different levels of the organisation.
  • You will maintain a deep understanding of the critical data sets and 'so what' messages relating to the new and used car market, MO fleet dynamics and economic picture, to produce strong storytelling narratives that deliver tangible outcomes.
  • You will maintain a considered understanding of all key Asset Risk data management & insight needs, the tools and systems used to support them, and ensure they meet the current and future needs of the business.
  • You will proactively ensure the tools and systems used in all data and insight activity meet the needs of the business, and support stakeholder engagement to deliver enhancements that meet the future needs of the business.
  • You will actively embrace an effective data culture in Asset Risk; data quality, monitoring, governance in support of meaningful and timely insight that delivers a tangible, ‘so what’ outcome.
  • You will deliver and cover data and insight activities in a matrix way of working approach across the Asset Risk Operational Teams and fellow Asset Risk output owners.
  • You will be an effective mentor for the wider Data Analysts and wider team where appropriate, raising awareness for people to identify and address the right skills and development paths.
  • You will be an advocate for Asset Risk, and work with colleagues around the business to promote best practices and skills & knowledge sharing.
  • You will develop collaborative and enduring relationships with the Asset Risk and wider business leadership teams, relevant stakeholders, and be an advocate for Asset Risk and our ways of working.

About You

  • Analytical thinking: Ability to analyse complex data sets and derive meaningful insights.
  • Attention to detail: Precision in data analysis to ensure accurate & reliable results.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to convey complex information (data storytelling) clearly.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactive in identifying issues and developing effective solutions.
  • Coaching: Strong coaching skills to manage and motivate a team.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing business needs and priorities.
  • Commercial awareness: Can understand the business environment, market trends, and the financial impact of decisions to align models with the organisation's strategic goals.
Minimum criteria
You’ll need all of these:
  • A degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is usually required.
  • Experience of delivering data led insight in a commercial environment.
  • Experience of delivering data and insight activities across a group of multiple stakeholders in a matrix operating model.
  • Experience of working in a data governance framework.
  • Experience of coaching junior data analysts.
Desirable criteria:
  • Understanding of data science, business analytics, and related disciplines.
  • Data governance framework principles.
  • Coaching colleagues in data governance or data insight.
