Job description

We are currently recruiting for an Evidence Reviewer & Court Processor to work for Devon and Cornwall Police at their Crownhill Police Station in Plymouth.

You will be working 37 hours a week and this is a temporary assignment for 12 months.

NOTE: PREVIOUS APPLICANTS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE.

The principal responsibility of the role is to provide a professional service by reviewing Road Traffic Offences which are either digital or manual submissions, ensuring offenders are brought to justice either via an educational diversion course or through the court process.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Conducting evidential reviews, collision reports, Op Snap submissions and Officer Issued Tickets and deciding the best course of action within legislation, policy and national guidelines.
  2. Inputting relevant collisions and tickets information onto Force systems, such as Crash and Pentip.
  3. Building streamlined digital files for progression through the Single Justice System (SJP), compiling relevant information for court.
  4. Working with partnership agencies including CPS, court staff, Magistrates, DVLA, Vision Zero Southwest and Police Officers to ensure a successful prosecution.
  5. Providing specialist advice and support to improve the performance and quality of submissions.
  6. Imparting knowledge to customers of the unit such as officers, members of the public and partner agencies.
  7. Ensuring adherence to protocols agreed between agencies.
  8. Working closely with external partners such as CPS and the Courts to negotiate and arrange effective Court hearings and trials.

This list of duties is not restrictive or exhaustive; the post-holder may be required to carry out duties that are either commensurate with or lower than the grade of the post.

  2. CRASH
  3. Caser Prep - Searching offenders, results, court information
  4. PENTIP
  5. PNCSRG
  6. PNLDB - Force system that provides information on Road Traffic Legislation and Case Law
  7. DCP Egress Op Snap account
  8. Accredited Gatekeeper (to be obtained within an agreed time frame)

Essential experience and specialist skills and knowledge:

  1. Proven ability to work without close supervision and on your own initiative.
  2. Demonstrable experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications, such as Outlook, MS Word and Excel.
  3. Ability to forge and build professional and effective working relationships with a range of individuals, internal and external to the organisation.
  4. Effective time management, planning and flexibility to adjust plans.
  5. Awareness of the Criminal Justice System in dealing with road traffic offences.
