Data Governance Manager

As we embark on a transformative project, we are seeking a passionate and experienced Data Governance Manager to join our team and lead the creation of a robust data governance strategy from the ground up. As the Data Governance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive data governance framework that ensures our data assets are accurate, secure, and aligned with business objectives. Reporting directly to the Director of Data & Analytics, you will collaborate with IT, business stakeholders, and data stewards to establish policies, standards, and methodologies that enhance data quality, foster data literacy, and empower informed decision-making across AJW Group.

What you’ll be doing

• Develop and implement a tailored data governance framework, policies, and standards to meet organizational needs.
• Partner with IT, business stakeholders, and data stewards to define and enforce data governance best practices.
• Champion data governance concepts and foster a culture of data literacy across the organization.
• Lead initiatives to improve data quality and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Leverage data management and governance tools such as Collibra, data.world, or Purview to streamline governance processes.
• Integrate governance processes into modern cloud data stacks, including Snowflake, Azure, and DBT.
• Design and deliver training programs to enhance understanding of data governance and its value.
• Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations to optimize data usage.

Minimum Requirements

• Proven experience in data governance, data management, or a related field.
• Familiarity with leading data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, data.world, Purview) and modern cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure, DBT).
• Strong understanding of data quality, metadata management, and regulatory compliance.
• Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage teams.
• Experience designing and implementing governance processes and integrating them into business systems.
• A track record of driving data literacy initiatives and fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a focus on delivering measurable results.
