A fantastic new opportunity has become available for a Data Engineer or Data Strategy Consultant with one of the world's leading financial institutions, serving individuals, small- and middle-market businesses, large corporations, and governments with a full range of banking, investment management, and other financial and risk management products and services based in Chester.
Role: Data Engineer or Data Strategy Consultant
Location: Bromley (3 days a week onsite)
Duration: 12 Months
Rate: Circa £600/Day
Experience and Skills required:
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Python.
- Experience with data warehousing and data lakehouse architectures.
- Expertise in data modelling methodologies (3NF, dimensional, data vault) for enterprise-level data stores.
- Hands-on experience with SQL and/or PL/SQL.
- Strong understanding of data architecture concepts (data warehouse, data mart, ODS, ETL, reporting, analytics).
- Familiarity with data governance and security best practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Knowledge of machine learning and AI concepts.
Responsibilities:
Data Architecture and Strategy:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Design and architect robust data lakehouse solutions, including data ingestion, processing, storage, and retrieval.
- Define data governance policies and standards to ensure data quality and security.
Data Engineering:
- Develop and maintain data pipelines using a variety of tools and technologies (e.g., Apache Spark, Kafka, Delta Lake).
- Design and optimize data models for both analytical and operational workloads.
- Implement data quality checks and monitoring mechanisms to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
Data Modelling and Design:
- Create effective data models (dimensional, star schema, snowflake) to support business intelligence and analytics.
- Design and optimize database schemas for efficient data storage and retrieval.
Data Science and Machine Learning:
- Collaborate with data scientists to integrate machine learning models into data pipelines and applications.
- Optimize data pipelines for machine learning workloads.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
- Mentor and guide team members on data engineering best practices and technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., data analysts, business analysts, data scientists) to deliver data-driven solutions.
