Hawksworth has a great new Data Engineer vacancy that requires strong Python Programming experience / JSON, to work for a well-known global Insurance organisation. This is a great position in a huge organisation where career development and opportunities are everywhere.

• Hybrid working – Only x2 days in the office per month needed (Wednesdays)
• Guildford location (Only x2 Wednesdays per month)

The role:

This Global Insurance firm is looking for a Data Engineer with good Programming skills in Python/JSON. You will play a crucial role in designing, developing and maintaining the data infrastructure.

For this role, we are specifically looking for someone with extensive Python experience to support us in the migration of an existing Python solution to a Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics based solution. If you consider yourself a Python expert along with a good understanding of Azure technologies, we would love to hear from you!

One aspect of the role is you will have 5 weeks to hand over from a Contractor to look after 2,000 lines of Python file processing complex JSON. Strong Python programming and JSON is required.

Required experience:

• Strong programming skills in Python and use of JSON – Essential (Will be expected to look after 2,000 lines of python code).
• Proven work experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
• Experience with data modelling, data warehousing and ETL frameworks
• Proficiency in working with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL), Parquet/Delta files and big data technologies (e.g. Synapse, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka)
• Experience working with Microsoft Azure and associated data services
• Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, with the ability to communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences
• Knowledge of data visualization tools and techniques
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• Financial Industry background is ideal
