Job description

Truespeed is a data driven company, with an innovative data core at our centre. As the company grows, we want to put data, insight, and analysis at the heart of all decision-making processes across all functions in Truespeed.

As a Data Engineer, you will work as part of a cross-functional team with Data Analytics to enable the use of data in the business by creating and supporting the underlying systems that provide a highly available and reliable data architecture.

You will be responsible for our data infrastructure - which includes both creation and reliability of data pipelines, databases, deployments, CI/CD, HA, access & privileges (in some cases), data warehouses and data lakes, storage & archival.

Through a blend of sound data engineering practices, operational discipline and mature software development and automation, you will develop and maintain stable data resources to support business processes and management intelligence reporting.

You will also maintain the infrastructure used by the Data Analytics Team, including on-site and off-site services.

It is a fast-paced environment where your ideas really matter and you have the ability to transform the way the business operates.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Delivering highly available, scalable and reliable data pipelines
  • Detailed schemas and data contract designs
  • Ensure quality data between relational, graph and no-sql databases
  • Develop our data engineering principles and practices
  • Work with the technical leadership to ensure greater data governance, security and compliance
  • Work closely with the Analytics team to ensure they have the data they need
  • Collaborate with the wider business to help solve business critical problems
Skills and Experience:
  • Extensive experience with databases and working with data
  • Geospatial data experience
  • Experience working with ETL pipelines, especially with DBT and Data Mesh
  • Cloud databases (Google Big Query, AWS Redshift)
  • Linux/Unix OS, terminal and scripting
  • Container building and deployment (docker, podman)
  • Structured data types (CSV, JSON, XML)
  • ISO query standards (sql, gql)
  • ISO data standards (date, wkt)
  • Open standards (Open metrics, open tracing)
  • Development practices (Source/Revision control, Test driven development, Continuous integration, Continuous deployment, Scrum)
  • Database experience (SQL, Graph, NoSql)
  • Programming language experience (Python, Bash/Shell, Java advantageous)
  • Knowledge of the telecoms sector is desirable but not essential
