The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced MEP Commissioning Manager to join our team and play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing MEP, quality assurance, and commissioning processes for our data center and mission-critical projects, ensuring seamless integration and successful project delivery.
This opportunity requires being on-site full time in Cedar Rapids, IA. Overwatch provides support for relocation.
Responsibilities
- Drive the overall construction process on-site with minimal oversight.
- Handle L2-L5 with document turnover.
- Collaborate with the operations team and the GC to resolve issues effectively.
- Represent the owner's interests with professionalism and authority.
- MEP Coordination: Oversee the coordination of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems within data center and mission-critical facilities. Collaborate with engineers, designers, and construction teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
- Hyperscale Data Center Experience: Utilize your expertise in hyperscale data centers to effectively manage MEP coordination for large-scale data center projects.
- Quality Assurance and Quality Control: Implement and maintain rigorous quality assurance and quality control measures throughout the construction process. Conduct inspections, tests, and audits to ensure adherence to industry standards and project requirements.
- Commissioning Management: Manage the commissioning process for data center and mission-critical projects, including planning, executing, and documenting commissioning activities to validate the performance of building systems.
- Resource Allocation: Efficiently allocate and manage resources related to MEP, QA/QC, and commissioning processes to support the construction schedule and meet project objectives.
- Safety Compliance: Work closely with the safety team to enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations related to MEP work, QA/QC, and commissioning activities.
- Vendor and Subcontractor Management: Collaborate with MEP subcontractors and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment. Coordinate with various stakeholders to maintain project momentum.
- Progress Monitoring: Oversee MEP, QA/QC, and commissioning progress and track milestones. Provide regular updates to senior management and stakeholders.
- Change Management: Manage changes to the MEP, QA/QC, and commissioning scope, schedule, and budget effectively. Document and communicate changes to all relevant parties.
- Collaboration and Communication: Foster effective communication and collaboration among project teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to ensure seamless coordination and execution of MEP, QA/QC, and commissioning processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience with Level 1-5 commissioning in a mission-critical field; data center experience is highly preferred. Commissioning certifications are strongly encouraged.
- Proven experience as an MEP Manager, QA/QC Manager, Commissioning Manager, or similar role in data center and mission-critical projects.
- Expertise in using hyperscale data center experience to manage MEP coordination for large-scale data center facilities.
- Strong knowledge of MEP systems and construction practices within the data center and mission-critical industry.
- Experience in coordinating MEP projects, managing QA/QC processes, and commissioning activities is highly advantageous.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Flexibility to work onsite five days a week and adapt to changing project demands.
- Understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to MEP work, QA/QC, and commissioning activities.
