Job Title: Data Architect
Industry: Lloyd’s of London Market Insurer
Contract Type: 6-Month Contract (Outside IR35)
Location: Hybrid (2-3 Days On-Site in London)
Day Rate: £700 - £760 per day

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to join a leading Lloyd’s of London market insurer on a 6-month contract (Outside IR35). The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing and delivering an Enterprise Data Platform, ensuring that data architecture aligns with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and best practices.

This role requires deep expertise in the Lloyd’s of London market, along with a strong understanding of reserving, pricing, and claims processes. You will work closely with technical and business teams to define and implement scalable data solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Data Architecture & Strategy
  • Design and implement an Enterprise Data Platform to support the insurer’s business strategy.
  • Develop data models, architectures, and governance frameworks for structured and unstructured data.
  • Define data management policies, ensuring scalability, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Establish data integration strategies to support real-time and batch processing.
Lloyd’s Market Expertise & Business Alignment
  • Ensure that architectural solutions align with Lloyd’s of London market standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Architect data solutions that facilitate seamless integration between reserving, pricing, and claims functions.
  • Work with business teams to translate insurance domain requirements into scalable data models and architectures.
Technology & Data Governance
  • Implement data governance, data quality, and metadata management frameworks.
  • Define data lineage and enforce data security, privacy, and compliance controls.
  • Evaluate and recommend cloud-based data storage, processing, and analytics technologies (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Work with data engineers, data scientists, and BI teams to optimise data architecture for analytics and reporting.
Stakeholder & Technical Leadership
  • Provide architectural leadership to cross-functional teams, ensuring best practices in data management.
  • Collaborate with IT, underwriting, actuarial, and finance teams to streamline data workflows.
  • Document data models, architectures, and best practices to support ongoing data transformation initiatives.
Key Skills & Experience Required

Proven experience as a Data Architect within a Lloyd’s of London market insurer.
Strong experience in designing and implementing Enterprise Data Platforms.
Expertise in reserving, pricing, and claims data integration within the insurance domain.
Hands-on experience with data modelling, data lakes, data warehouses, and cloud-based data solutions.
Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and modern data architecture frameworks.
Experience in data governance, master data management (MDM), and regulatory compliance.
Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
